Join Samba Celtica

Samba celtica playing club night in Falmouth

Get your samba swing on! We are running a series of rehearsals in January and February 2012 specifically where new members and guests will be very welcome. Coming along at this time of year means you can get up to speed with playing our pieces before our summer gigs. Samba Celtica is open to everyone over the age of 16. You can come to 2 rehearsals for free to see if you'd like to join before making any commitment. Don't be shy, you know you'll love it...get on the case!

January & February rehearsals: every Thursday evening, 7 for 7.30pm until 9.30pm, Carleen village hall, Breage (near Helston) see map below.

Maybe you play the drums or another instrument already, or perhaps you just have a natural ear for music and rhythms? Either way you will be very welcome to come along and have a go. We teach our pieces mostly by ear, although notation and recordings are available for reference / practice at home.

About our rehearsals

Samba Celtica rehearse every Thursday evening throughout the year from 7.30 - 9.30pm at Carleen Village Hall, Breage, near Helston, Cornwall, TR13 9QP (see map below). All members and guests are asked to arrive in plenty of time to start playing at 7.30. Very occasionally rehearsals are rearranged or in a different location so if you're coming along for the first time, get in touch with us to check!

We supply tea, biscuits, earplugs and instruments (although if you’ve played samba before and have your own instrument, feel free to bring it). You can come to two rehearsals for free and after that there’s a small weekly rehearsal cost (normally just £2 a week for members) to cover the room booking fee.

Band members are expected to attend rehearsals as regularly as possible and gigging band members need to commit to as many of the gigs we have throughout the year as they can (gigs are usually at weekends). Once our mestre feels you're ready to play a gig you'll be invited to join the gigging bateria.

Get in touch with us if you’d like to come along to a rehearsal, just to check it’s not at a different location (happens very occasionally) and so we know to look out for you. Please get there a bit early to have a chat to us before we start. We look forward to meeting you!
